American food in Florida, is it possible?

Florida is a great place for food, and even if traditionally South American food chains use this State as a US gateway, American food is popular everywhere in Florida, even with differences between one city and another.
When it comes to American food, in fact, we cannot identify just a single trend or type of food but a multitude of trends related to the many influences from where the gastronomic culture has been originated.

Florida is a great place to compare the different types of American food, and Orlando is definitely the place where to start due to the presence of so many tourists coming from all over the World.

Many people choose to stay either in Orlando or Lake Buena Vista, which is only a few miles from Orlando, and in doing so they’re challenging the local approach to food and also shaping the future of this area when it comes to American food.

American food in Florida: eating in Orlando

Well known for the many theme parks, Orlando is considered one of the best places to eat American food in Florida. There are many restaurants where you can satisfy your craving for American food, either close to the most important theme parks or farther away. These are some of the places I highly recommend in Orlando if you wanna eat American, original or with a twist.

Cork & Fork American Restaurant

As the name suggests, this is a proper American restaurant in Orlando with a good selection of dishes. They support local products, and beef is traceable and local. They also have cocktails, wine, and beer to be paired with the dishes.

Kings Dining & Entertainment

If you’re looking for a place where you can feel like you are in the 50s, Kings Dining & Entertainment is the recommended one. Burgers, chicken wings and so much more in this restaurant you need to try if you’re looking for a fun place where to spend a lunch or a dinner.

Yard House

A traditional bar and a grill where you can eat and watch sports. Steaks are the highlight of the menu and the portions are very generous. They also offer vegan and vegetarian dishes, and a huge selection of tap beers brewed on site.

The Rusty Spoon

Local ingredients and seasonal dishes make The Rusty Spoon a good place where to stop for a meal. Order the hamburger or the beef carpaccio which, even if not properly American, is prepared with an American twist served with pickles and horseradish sauce.

American food in Florida: eating in Lake Buena Vista

Usually chosen by people interested in the theme parks, Lake Buena Vista is also a great place where to relax far from the big city and enjoy a meal. These are some of the places I recommend to visit when in Lake Buena Vista, for a lunch or a meal with the family in perfect American style.

Miller’s Ale House

Not a proper restaurant, but a bar where you can eat traditional bar snacks like chicken wings, sandwiches and burgers, drink a pint and watch some sports. The place is amazing, food is above average, and the atmosphere great.

Wolfgang Puck Express

Spaghetti & meatballs and Mac and cheese are the highlights of this place, located close to the Walt Disney Springs. Vegetarian and gluten free options are offered, it’s a little bit pricey but the quality and the service are worth.

Trail’s End Restaurant

All You Can Eat and A La Carte menu at Trail’s End very close to Lake Buena Vista! Southern style cooking with perfect ribs and fried chicken and the perfect location, even if it’s a bit overpriced.

There are many more restaurants in Orlando and the Lake Buena Vista area where you can enjoy American food; this is just a small selection based on my experience.

As it happens in every touristic place, the best thing to do to avoid disappointment is to check in advance and plan your dining experience the same way you plan your hotel stay. Check the selection on if you’re looking for a hotel in Orlando, near World Disney World, check the selection on Trip; do the same if you’re looking for a hotel in Lake Buena Vista.
