The best brunch in Dublin to be tried at least once

“Brunchear” is almost being recognised as an official activity in Dublin during the week end: being an Italian I got used to it very soon and today going for a brunch is something I really love, especially when I can eat and drink well. Dublin is very well known for its versatility and that means new places open pretty much every months but there are a few spots in the City you ca really count on when it comes to have brunch. Here 5 of the best places in Dublin where having a brunch is a real pleasure.

Herbstreet

This is the definitely the place of my hearth where I go every time I need to eat something good in a very pleasant atmosphere. Herbstreet is located in the Gran Canal area, far from tourists, but it’s always full of people queuing for a table, inside or even outside. Herbstreet’s highlights are, for me, the pancakes and the French toast but everything is really good in here. Most of the menu can be easily converted into gluten free. More info here.

Farmer Brown

Farmer Brown wins a place of honor among the best brunch in Dublin because of the generous portions, the high quality and a pleasant environment not to mention the really low prices. The eggs Benedict with hollandaise mint and the burger are the highlights of this place Almost everything on the menu suits gluten free people, the prices are low if compared to the quantity and the quality but the queue outside is unavoidable. Brother Hubbard

Brother Hubbard is among the most loved places in Dublin for a Sunday brunch and the reason is simple: the dishes are a mix of traditional Irish and other cultures, African first and foremost, with the certainty that all the ingredients are local and from well known suppliers. The pull pork sandwich is simply delicious as well as the croque Madame especially if accompanied by a good coffee. Prices quite high. More info here.

Whitefriar Grill

This is The place where posh Dubliners and foreigners tend to go on a Sunday for a brunch. The portions are gigantic, the service is amazing and there is always live music during the brunch. The waffles with foie gras and “ribsnrump”, the steak, have to be tried. Just one flaw: it’s hard to find a place if you do not book days in advance and sometimes the music is quite annoying. Dillinger’s

A real institution in Dublin, the Dillinger’s offers huge portions at a very competitive price. Far from the chaos of the center (and therefore far from the tourists), people go to Dillinger’s especially for the famous and excellent nachos seasoned with the impossible and to be eaten with a cocktail, possibly the Ranelagh & Elmpark with bourbon, Fernet, lemon, apple and cinnamon ; the portions are gigantic and the prices really competitive but often it is hard to find a seat without a reservation.
