What ingredients do I need for this butterbeer?

There are several ways to make this drink at home: you can for a simple shake with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch topping, you can add cream soda, you can also add real beer if you plan on serving this drink to adults.

If you follow our method, you need to use vanilla ice cream. Still, you can also replace it with a mix of non-alcoholic beer and vanilla extract: every 750 ml of non-alcoholic beer, you need to add a tablespoon of vanilla extract to get the same result.

Ingredients for 4 people

    For the butterscotch syrup

    • 500 ml of vanilla ice cream
    • 4 tablespoons of butter at room temperature
    • 80 grams of brown sugar
    • 2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg

    For the vanilla cream soda

    • 450 grams of sugar
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
    • Soda

    Instructions

    1. Prepare the vanilla cream soda by heating 240 ml of water and 480 grams of sugar until this dissolves and cool. Add the vanilla extract, mix and put in a refrigerator so, when using it, add soda to make the compound liquid;
    2. In a bowl beat the softened butter with the spices and the sugar so once the whole is mixed, pour the ice cream, mix and put in a freezer;
    3. Heat the vanilla cream until it becomes hot but not burnt (average 3, max. 4 minutes);
    4. Pull the ice cream out of the fridge, shake it, pour it into the beer mugs and cover it with the hot “beer”;
    5. Add whipped cream to the surface before serving, even with cinnamon sticks.

    Can I add alcohol to my beer?

    Sure, you can! You can go for some rum extract or real rum. Beer makes it as well. Please note that if you add booze to this formula, the flavor may change. We haven’t tried the boozy butterbeer so that we can give you any advice. If you try it, let us know!

    Can I also make ice cream with the same method and ingredients?

    Well, this is a great question! Our butterbeer recipe already includes ice cream, so we guess you can. You must be careful in mixing the ingredients and refrigerating them correctly, but if you leave the mix into the fridge for a longer time, you will probably get an excellent Harry Potter gelato.

    “Anyone fancy a butterbeer?” Hermione Granger said. “Have yourself a glass of butterbeer,” we say and enjoy!
